HackMD is an excellent tool to write down and share your notes or posts in markdown. I have written and shared some HackMD note and posts here.
Create your HackMD notes (.md file)
Create new HackMD notes from the chrome extension
Create a new HackMD note from the chrome extension by clicking the HackMD chrome extension and the “New note” button.
Create new HackMD notes from the website
There are 3 ways to create a new note from the website.
- Empty a new note by clicking the “New note” button.
- A new note from a template.
- Import a file from Github.
Create new HackMD notes from a template
By clicking “New note from template”, the following window will select an existing template or create a new template.
Import a file from Github to edit in HackMD
By clicking “import file from Github,” it will show the following window to select the Github repository, branch, and file that you want to import; if your Github account is not linked, then another window would pop up asking to connect with Github account.
And then you can Pull from Github or Push to Github easily.
Publish your HackMD notes
Publish your HackMD note by clicking the share icon on the top right corner of your screen, selecting the view mode, writing the link name (Optional), setting the note permission to read, comment, and edit. And finally, click the Publish button.
Share your HackMD notes live
To share the live note (mostly the scrolling on a long note) controlled by 1 viewer, click the “n ONLINE” button on the top right corner of your screen and select the host you want to give controls to.
HackMD note creator’s screen when the host is selected.
HackMD Guest’s screen when the host is selected.
Non-hosts have the option to follow or unfollow the host’s live note.
